Lake Forest is a suburban city in Orange County with a population of over 77,000 as of the 2010 United States Census. Over the years, Lake Forest has merged and reincorporated with a few of the cities along its borders including parts of Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills. The City received its name due to its close proximity to two lakes in the area; these lakes in combination with the trees that line much of the area gives the area a very distinct characteristic.
Median household income hovers (2010) around $93,000; top employers include Oakley, Panasonic Avionics Corporation, Loan Depot, and more. Residents of the area enjoy great economic opportunities as well as great year round weather with mild winters and warmer summer months. There’s an abundance of outdoor activities to partake in as well from hiking to mountain biking; residents of the area are free to enjoy the much sought after casual California lifestyle.
* Interesting Note: If you are around the area, be sure to check out the (retired) Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, which can be seen by car. Many movies and TV shows have been filmed on the grounds including 24, the US version of BBC’s Top Gear, and many others.
